REPORTS TO:CLOSE Community Board of Directors / Superintendent of Schools or designee

JOB GOALS:To lead and coordinate the projects and activities of a community-based coalition focused on substance use prevention among youth, in compliance with the federal Drug Free Communities Program.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides daily oversight of the Drug-Free Communities Grant, including:
a. Grant Management and Fiscal Oversight: Provide oversight of the Drug-Free Communities Grant, ensuring effective fiscal
management, personnel supervision, and resource allocation. Maintain accountability for achieving grant objectives and
adhering to all programmatic and fiscal compliance requirements.
b. Community relations: Serve as a liaison between the coalition and external stakeholders, including local government, schools,
health organizations, and community groups. Ensure consistent and robust communication and engagement with sector
representatives and key community partners.
c. Implementation and evaluation to follow the Strategic Prevention Framework: Execute the Strategic Prevention Framework
(SPF), ensuring each stage—
* Assessment: Leads community needs assessment by gathering and analyzing data,
* Capacity building: Strengthens the coalition by recruiting, engaging, and training diverse sector representatives, including
schools, law enforcement, healthcare providers, businesses, and youth-serving organizations,
* Planning: Creates strategic plans with clear objectives, evidence-based interventions, and measurable outcomes,
* Implementation: Manages prevention strategies and ensures timely executions of programs, initiatives, and campaigns
aligned with coalition goals and
* Evaluation: Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of coalition activities and makes adjustments
2. Attends all required DFC and prevention-focused training and ensures coalition activities comply with DFC guidelines, specifically
regarding coalition communication, data collection, and information dissemination.
3. Assist the coalition in developing additional resources to promote the long-term sustainability of the Coalition and its efforts.
4. Proactively conducts outreach to strengthen relationships with existing partners and recruits new community members and
organizations to join the coalition.
5. Regularly update the Board of Directors on grant progress, including fiscal and programmatic milestones.
6. Schedule, lead, and facilitate coalition meetings, ensuring informed decision-making and clear communication with all members
7. Present data-driven reports to the Board and funding agencies, demonstrating measurable outcomes and adherence to grant
requirements.
8. Develop evaluation reports and strategic planning based on the data collected, in collaboration with the director and sector
representatives. Use this data to draft comprehensive evaluation reports and refine the coalition’s strategic plan, ensuring the
strategies are evidence-based and aligned with long-term goals.
9. Facilitate identified strategies such as:
a. a social norms campaign: create and disseminate clear, culturally appropriate materials to inform and educate parents,
community members, coalition partners, and local officials on youth substance abuse prevention strategies, risk factors, and
coalition activities.
b. enhancement of coalition membership
c. skills development within the coalition and broader community
10. Travel for national and local meetings and trainings, as required by the terms of the grant.
11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EVALUATION:Performance will be evaluated by the CLOSE Board of Directors

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NONE

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position consists of 210 days on a schedule to be mutually agreed upon between the Superintendent and his/her designee. Flexible scheduling up to including remote work will be allowed based on the needs of he coalition or coalition supported or sponsored community activities. Candidate must be available for evening meetings. Anticipated salary is $60,000 - $85,000 annually depending on the chosen candidate’s qualifications and experience. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
This position is an annual appointment subject to the availability of funds and determination of Coalition needs.

Job Requirements


  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    1.Master’s degree in Public Health, Education, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2.Prior experience in substance abuse prevention and community engagement and community engagement is required.
    3.Certified Prevention Specialist is preferred.
    4.Prior experience with grants implementation and management is preferred.
    5.Excellent writing and verbal communication skills including creating effective presentations, reports and promotional materials to
    a wide range of stakeholders.
    6.In-depth knowledge of public health and prevention science, particularly the Strategic Prevention Framework
    7.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
    8.Computer skills and knowledge of data collection tools and methods.
